FAQs

We're sure you have plenty of questions you would like to ask us before your first class, so here are a few frequently asked questions that our clients have asked us before…

Pole is essentially a form of dancing, alongside a series of gymnastic exercises performed on a vertical pole and it's a great way to improve upper body, core strength, endurance, fitness, flexibility and even confidence! Moving on and around the pole works a number of different parts of your body which will begin to improve your fitness level and tone your muscles in just a few weeks. If you are looking for a new and fun way to get fit and tone up, Pole is for you!

Not at all! We will start you off at a basic, beginner level and after just a few weeks, you will start to notice a number of differences in your body – from weight loss to toned muscles, improved strength and endurance, improved core, flexibility, cardiovascular fitness and even confidence! To find out exactly how Pole improves your fitness ability, please see our 'About Pole' page.

Pole targets a number of different parts of body, which will improve your fitness level and tone your muscles in just a few weeks. Pole particularly improves upper body and core strength, as well as building on your endurance, cardiovascular fitness and flexibility. This is done through conditioning exercises during classes, learning and linking pole tricks and also putting routines together. To find out exactly how Pole improves your fitness ability, please see our 'About Pole' page.

Trust us, Pole really helps with improving your confidence and this is done by coming along to a class! Everyone is different, we all have different body shapes and we are all different sizes, however none of that matters when it comes to Pole. We start everyone off at a very basic level, we teach you moves on the pole and even teach you little routines to show off all those moves you have been learning and perfecting. You can perform these routines in a group together or on your own to your classmates, but either way, we all have fun together! Our instructors have been in the same position as you, but we all have to start somewhere so we really do encourage you to come along to a class and have some fun! If you’d rather have a go at Pole on your own, you can book in for a private 1-2-1 lesson, or alternatively book in for a private class with a friend or group of friends you feel comfortable with.

Our classes are structured to ensure you get the best out of your classes in a safe and effective way. We always start off with a gentle warm up which will warm your muscles and joints ready for exercise. We then take you through some conditioning exercises which builds up your endurance and greatly helps you while you are on the pole. Next is the main pole session, you will learn moves, practise and perfect them, which will then lead us on to teaching you a short routine where you can show off all those moves you have been learning. Lastly, we will take you through a cool down to get your body back to its resting state before you started exercise and this will really help in reducing muscle soreness you may experience the following day.

- Wear comfortable clothes during warm up and cool down. - Bring shorts for the main pole session, this is essential as your skin will prevent you from slipping off the pole! - We recommend barefoot during our classes to begin with. - Wear a comfortable top / sports bra / pole wear that you can move easily in. - Bring a small towel with you - you will find this handy to wipe the poles down and dry your hands throughout the session. - No jewellery or watches should be worn during classes, as they may scratch the poles, damage your jewellery and you could also injure yourself. Please be aware that you should NOT use any oils or lotions on your skin on the day of your class - this will cause you to slip off the pole!

- Bring a bottle of water to ensure you stay hydrated throughout the session. - Bring a pair of shorts for the main pole session - this is essential as your skin will prevent you from slipping off the pole! - Bring a small towel with you - you will find this handy to wipe the poles down and dry your hands throughout the session.

Don’t worry! We’ll all be wearing shorts so we’ll all be in the same boat! However, if you prefer, you can wear some loose, comfortable bottoms that can be rolled up over the knee for the first few weeks. However, we really do encourage you to wear shorts as it is essential that you have skin contact with the pole to prevent you slipping off and this will help you get the most out of your pole classes.

Everyone may experience some kind of bruise or burn during their Pole classes as it involves a lot of skin contact with the pole. You can try to prevent them by wearing wristbands during classes and also by wearing a hoodie or jumper that can be put on and taken off when needed.

Of course! Pole is for everyone and we encourage anyone and everyone to learn, no matter what your gender or who you idenify as. You can join group classes or you can sign up for private lessons if you’d rather learn on your own or at your own pace.
